A row of pendulums with slightly different lengths is released together and drifts through travelling waves, snakes and moments of chaos before lining up again. Scrub through the cycle, or change the number of pendulums and the speed.

Prompt and process

Make a single-file HTML pendulum wave on a canvas: a row of pendulums with slightly different lengths, released together and drifting in and out of phase, with thin strings, solid bobs and faint trails, plus simple controls for pause/play, reset, number of pendulums and speed that work on phone and desktop.
